Back in 1980 Chuck Bard was CEO and General Manager of the Decathlon Club in Bloomington, Minn., and came up with the idea to honor the top men’s collegiate hockey player in the U.S. His concept came to fruition with the creation of the Hobey Baker Memorial Award. A committee was formed to oversee the operations of the award and each year is guided by a new Committee Chairman. These pillars of strength guide the award project through all phases of the operation including budgeting, public relations, marketing, banquet and selection process. Countless hours are spent in a volunteer role to make the annual event the best it can be. We salute these past Committee Chairs for their dedication in creating and preserving the outstanding qualities the Hobey Baker Award represents.
